The Laguntas will play their first game at Richmond’s ME Bank Centre, Punt Road Oval on Monday, June 10.

The all-Indigenous U/18 team will have their first hit-out against the Victorian Country U/16 team on the Queen’s Birthday holiday.

The program is a new initiative of AFL SportsReady, AFL Victoria, and the Korin Gamadji Institute/Richmond Football Club.

The Laguntas program will engage Victorian based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through football, to support cultural strengthening, leadership, health, education and training and employment pathways.

Up to 40 young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men will engage in a high performance football development program, to provide them with genuine access to TAC, VFL and AFL pathways.

The players will spend five days participating in programs, development sessions and training, in the lead up to the game, at various locations around Melbourne, including the KGI and ME Bank Centre, Punt Road Oval.
