In 2015 the KGI partnered with Netball Victoria to develop an Indigenous Women’s Netball Program with the aim to increase physical participation and health and wellbeing outcomes through netball. KGI supports our young Indigenous women from a cultural and leadership perspective whilst Netball Victoria provide fitness, skills and industry training to inspire future talent and broader involvement in the netball industry.
The program offers day clinics focusing on netball and fitness skills as well and cultural and leadership sessions and provide young Indigenous women with diverse female mentors. The program participants form the Lagunta Sisters team who participate in the State Koorie Football Netball Carnival to develop team skills and connect with community across Victoria.
Application are open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander females ages 13 to 17. Applications are open in July for August and September clinics and VACSAL carnival early October.
